In an astonishing turn of events, the Sierra Leone Embassy in Egypt orchestrated a send off in a wonderful celebration for outgoing Ambassador Madam Fatmata Haja Lamin for her unwavering commitment for six remarkable years in a foreign land.
The program took place on Thursday 29th August 2024 at the Conference Hall of the Chancery in Sarayat, Maadi, Cairo.
Samuel Alie Kargbo, Counsellor/Head of Chancery in his speech said, “The send-off ceremony is a poignant reminder of the bonds forged through shared experiences, challenges overcome, and friendships nurtured in a place far from home.”
Colleagues and well-wishers filled the evening with words of encouragement and admiration for the outgoing Ambassador, recounting Mdm. Lahai’s tireless efforts in promoting diplomacy, fostering international relations, and representing Sierra Leone with grace and dignity.
They shared anecdotes of moments, milestones achieved, and the impact of the diplomat’s work on the local community and beyond.
His Excellency Ambassador Sadiq Silla said that amidst the bittersweet emotions of farewell, there was a sense of pride in celebrating the Mdm. Lahai’s accomplishments and the legacy left behind.
He said that the ceremony was a testament to the power of diplomacy in bridging cultures, building bridges, and fostering understanding in a world often divided by differences.
Abdul Rahman Sankoh Yillah, head of the Sierra Leone Community in Cairo, Egypt expressed the send-off ceremony as a fitting tribute to a diplomat whose dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to peace and cooperation had touched the lives of many community members and will remembered for years to come.
Mdm. Laahai responded that she was leaving behind a sense of gratitude, camaraderie, and the enduring spirit of diplomacy that transcends borders and unites hearts.
