Sierra Leone’s government through the Joint Negotiation Board (JNNB) has proposed an increase in the national minimum wage of the country.

It is said that the minimum wage which was Nle600 per month will be increased to Nle800 effective 1st April 2023.

The proposed increment document is believed to become law within 21 days if there is no objection after being laid in Parliament.

The increase in the cost of living has caused workers from different sectors to complain for the past few months.

The new minimum wage is believed to be the government’s plan to cushion the effect of the economy.
