On July 17, 2024, a transformative alliance was formed in Sierra Leone as President Bio’s delegates, led by Hon. Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella, Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change, Renewable Energy & Food Security, orchestrated a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing with Infinity Power, a MASDAR company.
This pivotal agreement commits to an investment in 1 gigawatt of renewable energy, marking a significant step toward sustainable development.
The highlight of the agreement is the plan to establish 200 megawatts of hydro-solar energy within the next 2-3 years. This milestone is set to nearly double Sierra Leone’s current energy capacity in its first phase, showcasing a robust commitment to renewable energy and sustainable growth.
Dr. Eldred Taylor, Deputy Minister of Energy, and Permanent Secretary Tamba Gbetuwa, representing the Ministry of Energy, joined forces with Ahmed Mullah, Deputy CEO of Infinity Power, and Ndeye Koroma from the Sierra Leone Central Development Unit (SLCDU).
