Amadu Bah, the Deputy Chief Immigration Officer in Sierra Leone has revealed that his office has been able to print passports amounting to fifty thousand.
This disclosure was made while presenting the Immigration Department’s proposed 2024 budget at the budget hearing held at the Ministry of Finance.
He said printing represented eight months ranging from January to August 2023 amidst huge administrative and financial challenges faced by the institution, adding that the immigration department is now trying to digitalize the printing of the national passport to make it easier for citizens both within and out of the country to access their passport printing.
He furthered that, they have plans to start issuing out contracts to private people who would be responsible for private passport contracts and printing so that it will be easier for citizens both in and out of the country to assess their passport printing.
