Myk Berewa, Director of Communications at State House, has said that the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) is now stronger than ever under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio.

Berewa made the statement during an appearance on the Epic Morning Show on Epic Radio, where he responded to questions regarding the capacity and preparedness of the military amid growing national security concerns.

Addressing speculation about possible tensions with neighbouring Guinea, Berewa emphasized that Sierra Leone is not preparing for war.

“We are not going to fight Guinea. We are not going to put ammunition on the border of Guinea,” he said, stressing that the government’s preferred approach to addressing security matters is diplomacy.

According to Berewa, President Bio, in collaboration with relevant ministries, has consistently prioritized diplomatic engagement as the most effective strategy for maintaining peace and stability. He noted that diplomacy has historically delivered results for the country, pointing out that it was diplomatic efforts that ultimately brought an end to Sierra Leone’s 11-year civil war.
