Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Fatmata Wurie, has led a delegation to China to partake in the prestigious China International Import Expo (CHE), marking the first-ever participation of Sierra Leone in this international event.
The expo, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, runs from November 5th to November 10th.
In an enthusiastic display of Sierra Leonean pride, Deputy Minister Wurie emphasized the significance of this historic participation. “Our booth is the best. We displayed locally made goods from Sierra Leone. Together, the world will know about our country,” she stated. This venture aligns with the vision of President Julius Maada Bio’s “Feed Salone” program, which aims to not only enhance food security through rice production but also through various other locally produced food items.
Speaking on behalf of her Minister and the entire Ministry of Trade, Deputy Minister Wurie highlighted the importance of the Green, White, and Blue Flag of Sierra Leone, emphasizing that it symbolizes not just the President or the government’s efforts but also the collective contributions of every Sierra Leonean citizen to better their beloved nation.
As Sierra Leone’s representation at the China International Import Expo continues, the delegation seeks to forge partnerships and showcase the nation’s economic potential on the global stage.
