The Management of the Sierra Leone police (SLP) has on Wednesday issued a press release stating that they have arrested the man assaulting and manhandling a police officer in uniform, noting it is act of total lawlessness.
According to the Management of the Sierra Leone police their attention was drawn to a video clip making rounds on social media which depicts a civilian assaulting and manhandling a police officer in uniform, on Tuesday May 10, 2022, along Siaka Stevens Street Kroo Town Road Junction, Freetown.
“Management wishes it to be known that such act perpetrated against a member of the Sierra Leone Police is criminal and it is an act of gross lawlessness,” SLP stated.
“The public is further informed that the civilian who perpetrated this act of lawlessness has been arrested and identified by the name of Ibrahim Bangura of no. 16 Upper West Brook Street, Freetown, and he is currently helping the police with the investigations,” they added.
The SLP Management noted that they are dismay about recent incidents of civilians deliberately interfering and obstructing police officers while executing their lawful duties, adding that the public is therefore warned to desist from such unpatriotic and lawless act or risk facing the full consequences of the law.
“The SLP wants to reassure the people of Sierra Leone that, it is ever poised to continue providing professional policing services for them and also encourages all citizens to always be law abiding,” the Police stated.
