The Sierra Leone Teachers Union has issued a stern warning, cautioning that the suspension of over 4,000 teachers from the payroll could jeopardize the planned reopening of schools in September.
The union expressed concern that many of the suspended teachers are active in their schools and had already been verified yet were unjustly removed from the payroll.
The union highlighted that some schools were never visited by verification teams, while others contain teachers who have resigned, abandoned their positions, or passed away—issues they agree should be addressed promptly. “This is not just about salaries; it is about the future of education in Sierra Leone,” the union stated.
While the union supports the government’s initiative to clean up the payroll, they emphasize the need for the immediate reinstatement of genuine, re-verified teachers to prevent disruptions in education and to facilitate the recruitment of more qualified staff. In their letter, they concluded by seeking intervention from the President to resolve these pressing issues

This is fact that Most of the teacher were verified but yet their salaries were suspended.
Meaning some staff were not trained well for the work, please SLTSC should make immediate reinstation Of those affected teachers and they should be paid for the past month.
