The Australian High Commission in Ghana has named two Sierra Leoneans among five recipients of the prestigious 2026 Australia Awards scholarships, confirming their selection for advanced studies in Australia.

According to the announcement from the Australian High Commission, the successful Sierra Leonean applicants are Mohamed Muctar Sow, a prosecutor with the Anti-Corruption Commission, and Maada Moiwah Ansumana, a civil engineer with Marampa Mines Limited.

Sow will pursue a Master of Public Policy at the Australian National University, while Ansumana has been awarded a place at Deakin University, where he will study for a Master of Engineering (Professional).

The Australia Awards program is designed to support emerging leaders from partner countries to gain knowledge and skills that contribute to development in their home nations.

The inclusion of the two Sierra Leonean professionals in the 2026 cohort reflects the growing participation of Sierra Leone in international academic and professional advancement opportunities supported by the Australian government.
