Sierra Leone Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, has revealed that many Sierra Leonean citizens in Turkiye are in possession of foreign passports, rather than the Sierra Leone Passport and they only make alarms and claims to be Sierra Leoneans when they are in conflict with the law.

The Embassy issued a statement on today,  Saturday 22nd July, 2023 in response to allegations regarding the Embassy’s negligence of concerns Over Sierra Leoneans in Turkiye.

That Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, affirmed that on numerous occasions they have dispatched senior officials to  various prisons across the country in search of its citizens. To the dismay of the embassy, many Sierra Leonean citizens  are in possession of foreign passports.

As a foreign mission , they revealed that they do not meddle into the immigration laws of the host country; therefore, they do not dictate how their rules or laws are applied. The best they can do is to advocate to the host country on maintaining the human rights of their nationals who have committed the respective alleged immigration crimes.
