The President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, has commended President Bio for his media reforms.
He made the statement at the President Media Cocktail organized by President Bio at Country Lodge, Freetown on 15 December 2021.
Mr. Nasralla thanked President Bio for repealing the Criminal Libel Law, stating that the media has now become attractive especially to women.
Mr. Nasralla highlighted some his achievements as SLAJ President, adding that SLAJ received its highest recruit in 2021.
Mr. Nasralla reminded the President of his manifesto promises to the media which include President’s promise of annual subvention to the media and land for SLAJ Secretariat.
Mr. Nasralla also drew the attention of the President to controversial issues involving the office of the President.
Highlighting the cotroversial issues, Mr. Nasralla mentioned among other things the indefinite suspension of the Auditor General, the appointment of the NEC Chairman Western Area, the Mid-term Census.
SLAJ President failingly could not mention anything regarding the 2020 Audit Report released a day before the media Cocktail – a report which puts the President in a bad light and in complete financial mismanagement.
