With support from SEND-SL in Port Loko District, the Young Women in Governance Network has held a two-day engagement and elections of their executive.
Four SLAWIJ members in the district were elected at top positions within the network. Kadiatu Mangai Conteh (President), Priscilla Koroma (Vice-President), Kadiatu Hayles (Secretary General), and Hannah K. Williams (Public Relations Officer).
The Young Women in Governance Network is a platform for young women to engage and promote governance in their communities. In Port Loko District, all the 13 chiefdoms in the district are represented in the network. These young women have diverse backgrounds that they will use to promote the objectives of the network.
The Executive President of SLAWIJ, Mrs. Millicent Kargbo thanked the District Coordinator for SLAWIJ Kadiatu Tholley for working with the ladies to bring SLAWIJ into this great achievement. She further applauded the ladies and said, “I am proud of the team, we are SLAWIJ, work well and maintain our brand.”
Mrs. Kargbo added that, over the years SLAWIJ has been privileged to raise young women that are now venturing into the leadership space and promised that they will do more.
