Our Position Remains That No Election Was Conducted – SLBA Presidential Candidates Challenge Results

Former presidential candidates for the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah and Wara Seray-Kamal, have issued a public notice disputing the results of the recently concluded Bar Association election held in Kenema.

In their notice, Marrah and Seray-Kamal stated that they do not recognize the individuals announced as the new Board of the Sierra Leone Bar Association on May 20, 2024.

They alleged that the newly announced board members are paid-up members of the AGM and asserted that no democratic election process was conducted, thereby invalidating the election of the new Board.

The notice also called for a press conference to be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the New Brookfields Hotel at 12:00 PM. Members of the Bar Association and media representatives are invited to attend, where Marrah and Seray-Kamal will communicate their official position and outline their next steps.

😂🤣😂 This country. Even when there a video evidence showing election rigging the winner still stands. They will now say take them to court 🤣😂 Me, if you want kill me but I'm not going to any court in this country. Do me something and going free is better than going to Sierra Leone court.

Paopa is perfecting the art of RIGGING an election: June 24, 2023 and now this. Whatever happened with an open and free election? Paopa continues to divide the society, all in a bid to capture institutions/organizations. I fear the path to a totalitarian state. And then we blame the West for our backwardness. When all we do is fight to gain power, and then go begging around the world.

If you believe you're going to win a competition, you will never stop that competition from progressing. Only losers will try to stop it. This was what we saw on that SLBS election day. We saw the same thing running up to the last general elections of June 2023. This has now becoming the norm in Sierra Leone. When will Sierra Leoneans learn to accept defeat? If these people calling themselves Lawyers, are behaving like what we saw these past days, then it shows how corrupt our Lawyers in Sierra Leone are. GROW UP LAWYERS (OR SHOULD LIERS) of our nation.
