The Board of Trustees of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) has completed a nationwide tour aimed at assessing operational conditions, staff needs, and infrastructure challenges at regional stations.

Led by Chairperson Dr Williette James, the delegation included the Deputy Director General (DDG) Mohamed Asmieu Bah , who joined the tour for the first time since taking office. The visit covered several regional locations including Kono, Makeni, Magburka, Mile 91, Bo, Kailahun, and Kenema.

At each station, the board engaged directly with staff, gathering feedback on issues such as equipment, infrastructure, staffing, and local content production. The meetings provided the leadership team with firsthand information on how stations are operating outside the capital and what support they require.

In Kono, the board met with staff and stakeholders to open the tour. In Makeni, the team visited the Mena Hills transmission site. Outdoor meetings were held in Magburka and Kailahun, where staff discussed their work in open-air settings due to limited facilities.

Kenema and Bo also hosted the delegation, where staff spoke about working under challenging conditions to maintain consistent broadcasts.

The Chairperson of the Board noted the importance of listening directly to teams on the ground and understanding their day-to-day realities. The DDG reflected that the visits offered valuable insights that will inform future planning and resource allocation.

SLBC continues to serve as the national public media institution, with stations operating in all regions of the country. The tour forms part of broader efforts to strengthen coordination between headquarters and regional offices, and to support ongoing public service delivery.
