Madam Josephine Kamara, Director General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation has paid a courtesy visit to UNDP SierraLeone’s Resident Representative, Mr. Fredrick Ampiah.
Josephine Fatima Kamara secured the prestigious position of Director General at the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), making her the second female to hold this influential role.
The appointment, aligns seamlessly with the global celebration of International Women’s Day, recognizing the achievements and contributions of women across social, economic, cultural, and political spheres.
Mr. Ampiah has over 28 years of development and management experience in varied contexts- fragile states, post-conflict/conflict countries, and on a range of thematic areas including Democratic Governance, Peace, and Security (Elections, Small Arms and Light Weapons -SALW), Sustainable Development (ICTs for development and–Technology/Innovation management, Private sector development).
Prior to this position, he was the UNDP Regional Coordinator (SALW) for the West and Central Africa Sub-Regional Hub, based in Dakar and Regional Project manager of the Organized Crime West Africa Response to Trafficking (OCWART) and the Cross-Border Management of Small Arms projects in the ECOWAS region.
The two experts discussed strategic partnerships to reposition SLBC as a self-sufficient organization committed to promoting national identity, and supporting national development.
