The Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority (SLCAA) has issued a statement addressing the misleading information circulating on social media regarding new charges at the Freetown International Airport (FNA) effective March 1, 2024.

Contrary to the misinformation, the SLCAA emphasizes that the revised/new charges are embedded in the ticket at the point of sale. It is explicitly stated that these taxes are not to be collected at FNA by any entity.

For tickets booked on February 26, 2024, for travel to Sierra Leone in March 2024, the final cost is inclusive of all new taxes. The SLCAA reiterates that the only charge payable at FNA remains the Securiport Fee of $25 per departing and arriving passenger.

To ensure accurate information dissemination, the SLCAA urges the public to disregard the misleading details circulating on social media and instead contact the Consumer Protection Department at 8122 for clarification.
