The Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) has issued a press release addressing the concerning behavior of several officers.
The release, issued on 22nd April 2024, highlights the discovery of a Corrections Officer, 2CCO Musa Samura (2855), in possession of a packaged substance suspected to be “marijuana.”
According to the release, Officer Samura was apprehended by the Gate Supervisor on duty at the main entrance of the Freetown Male Correctional Centre (Pademba Road) at 06:45hrs on Sunday, 21st April 2024. The actions of Officer Samura are stated to contravene Section 22 (a) of the 2014 SLCS Act, which prohibits the unauthorized possession or distribution of substances among inmates.
As a result of the violation, Officer Samura has been dismissed from the service and handed over to the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) for further investigation.
Additionally, the release mentions the dismissal of four other Corrections Officers for drug-related offenses. These officers are identified as follows:
2CCO Alimamy Bangura (3814)
3CCO Alhassan Bangura (3974)
3CCO Alpha Morray Kargbo (4226)
3CCO Alimamy Chamber (3751)
The SLCS reaffirms its commitment to upholding safety measures within all Correctional Centres and emphasizes its dedication to combating drug-related activities. Through swift and decisive action, the SLCS aims to maintain the integrity of its operations while ensuring the welfare and security of both staff and inmates.
The man should be in person for 15yrs for knowing and doing
I don’t understand why law enforcement officers in Sierra Leone are so deeply involved in the use and distribution of drugs. One gets the impression that they are the main perpetrators of this heinous crime.
Maybe the Man need More time to explain to the nation why he did that.
Let him replace one prisoner
