After an alleged shooting incident that occurred on the 1st of January 2023, at 2nd Car Park Lagoonda, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Sierra Leone Police has taken up the matter for investigation.
The shooting incident involves one Abubakarr security of a Turkish national and one Hussein Mustapha Fawaz which left Fawaz sustaining bodily harm on both legs.
Report from the Police Spokesman, ACP Brima Kamara stated that Abubakkar with an unknown address in Freetown on 1st January 2023 at the Lagoonda Second Car Park in Aberdeen Freetown allegedly fired seven live rounds of ammunition at Hussein Mustapha Fawaz of No. 4 Karim Drive Juba Hills Freetown, thereby causing him grievous bodily harm on both legs.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Brima Kamara further that when the crime scene was visited by the police, they discovered two live bullets and five empty shells which they now treat as exhibits, and snapshots were taken of the area.
He disclosed that statements were obtained from the Security Guard who was present at the time and the two suspects, the complainant Hussein Mustapha Fawaz who was admitted at the Choithrams Memorial Hospital, and Abubakarr, the Security Guard attached to the Turkish national.
After obtaining a statement from Hussein Mustapha Fawaz in his hospital bed, a police medical request form was given to him and later flown to Lebanon for further medical treatment.
According to Police Spokesman ACP Brima Kamara, the complainant had gone to the Lagoonda Scarlet Casino to have a good time when he saw at the gate the security guard and the Turkish quarreling and Hussein Mustapha Fawaz intervened to calm down the Turkish national who suddenly slapped him and in the cause of retaliating, Abubakarr the security guard to the Turkish national arrived and pushed Hussien on the chest, just after the pushing the complaint said both the Turkish national and Abubakarr grabbed him and started hitting him when he too hit Abubakarr in retaliation on his head where the police say he sustained injuries.
He further that, the complaint was arrested by a Military Staff Sergeant.
The police are requesting a Ballistic expert who should determine whether bullets were indeed used.
