The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority [SLPHA] has acknowledges various reports circulating the electronic and Social Media over the tragic death a Mediterranean Shipping Company [MSC] employee, Mr John Conteh in a Press Release.

Considering controversy surrounding the incident, SLPHA confirmed that the unfortunate incident took place at the Exclusive concession Zone of Freetown Terminal Limited, which allegedly led to the  accidental death of Mr. Conteh.

Speaking on the Production of the CCTV TV Footage of the Incident,  SLPHA denies possession of the CCTV footage of the specific area where the incident occurred assuring  that the appropriate authorities have been directed to liaise with FTL to obtain any relevant CCTV FOOTAGE .

The management of SLPHA  further affirmed  it engagement with MSC, FTL and the Sierra Leone Police to ensure Transparency, Accountability, and a thorough investigation of the Incident adding that MSC and FTL Leadership have been directed to fully cooperate with the authorities and Provide any necessary information to aid the investigation.

Meanwhile SLPHA extends heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. John Conteh. The management  assured them and the concerned parties of their full cooperation and supports in the ongoing investigations.

SLPHA encourage the Public and all interested parties to approach this incident with sensitivity, provide support to the affected family and continue to uphold rigorous safety protocols at the Freetown Port.
