The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has officially condemned and suspended Mr. Kadiru Kaikai following a video circulating on social media in which he threatened violence if he does not become president in 2028.

In a press release, the SLPP’s National Secretariat expressed its strong and unequivocal condemnation of Mr. Kaikai’s threats, emphasizing that such reckless and dangerous statements do not reflect the views or aspirations of the party’s members. The SLPP reiterated that threats of violence and war have no place in a civilized and democratic society and must be firmly denounced.

The party underscored the importance of the safety and security of Sierra Leone’s citizens and vowed that any attempts to disrupt peace and stability would not be tolerated. The SLPP highlighted its historical role in restoring peace to the nation and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the nation’s well-being.

As a result of Mr. Kaikai’s statements, the SLPP leadership has decided to suspend his membership with immediate effect, pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing. The party has instructed all executives across the Republic of Sierra Leone to dissociate themselves from Mr. Kaikai and his activities. Any attempt by Mr. Kaikai to use the party’s name or make public statements will result in serious legal actions.

The SLPP remains united with all Sierra Leoneans against violence and extremism and is committed to safeguarding the nation’s peace and security. The party also urged its members to focus on supporting the government in delivering its National Development Plan, rather than engaging in internal party election politics.

The SLPP is dedicated to working hard to fulfill its manifesto and earn the mandate of Sierra Leoneans in the 2028 elections through peaceful and democratic means, continuing the legacy of President Julius Maada Bio.
