The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has complied with a regulatory fine, paying One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (NLe 150,000) to the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
The fine, levied on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, was imposed for contravening Section 39(1)(d) of the Political Parties Act (No. 25) of 2022. The violation involved remarks made by Wusu Dadidah Jalloh, the SLPP Northern Region Public Relations Officer, during a broadcast on Monday, November 24, 2025.
At the time, news reports indicated that Jalloh’s statements were deemed by the PPRC as “incendiary and inciting,” constituting a breach of the Act’s provisions on political conduct. The legislation requires political parties to ensure their members and supporters act within the law and refrain from activities that disrupt public peace or incite violence.
In a press release confirming the payment, the PPRC thanked the SLPP for its compliance and urged the party to “take further steps to ensure that its members, supporters, and operatives continue to conduct themselves within the confines of the law.”
The Commission, mandated to regulate political party activities in Sierra Leone, emphasized that adherence to the Political Parties Act, 2022, is essential for maintaining a peaceful and democratic political environment.
