The Sierra Leone Road Authority has on the 8th January 2024, held a bid opening session for potential bidders for the construction of Tikonko- Kpetema, Moyoroh Junction- Serabu road in the southern part of the Country.

The bidding session assembled both National and Intentional bidders competing to be the successful bidder for the project, Civil Society Organization –Infrastructure for Development and media.

In his welcome addressed, the Director General of the Sierra Leone Road Authority my. Alfred Jabbie Momoh stated that an advertisement was made through some major information sharing platform like newspapers, requesting for suitable and qualify bidders to send in their proposals and to submit interest for the road project.

He noted that prior to this time; a site visit has been done together with some key stakeholders in the road sector including the Infrastructure for Development which is a civil society organization to examine the road and the needful.

Mr. Momoh revealed that question and answer session was opened for some clarity to be made on issues raised by people after the visit session.

He told everyone present that LSRA is a responsible institution that has best practice and they are working hard to maintain it.

Director Momoh revealed that SLRA needs a competitive exercise to ensure the work are done effectively and efficiently and at the same time consideration value for money.

The Ministry of Work and Public Assets representative noted that the bidding meeting was called to ensure the process goes on success in order to have the best bidder who can work and deliver on time, and to present a very good job at the end of the day.

He further stated that they will be giving support to SLRA to ensure that bidding process is devoid of unfairness and sentiment.

In his statement, the Chief Executive Officer of Infrastructure for development Mr. Charles Mambu revealed that there has been so many mockery and provocation with regards the roads to be constructed.
