Mohamed Kamairanba Mansaray, a former opposition politician and leader of the Alliance Democratic Party (ADP), has recounted his personal sacrifices in the pursuit of a better Sierra Leone.

In a social media post, Mansaray revealed that he sold one of his properties in the United States to fund his political endeavors and humanitarian efforts.

“I gave my all to Sierra Leone,” he wrote. “I sold one of my houses in Lanham, Maryland, USA in 2017 for $400,000 to make a difference in the lives of the people. I suffered three (3) and half years in prison. I created a new narratives in Sierra Leone politics. I will never give up on Sierra Leone. I will continue to give my sweat and blood to see a better and developed Sierra Leone. “

Mansaray, who was released from prison on bail last year due to health concerns, has faced criticism for his past actions. In 2023, he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for a sexual offense.

Despite his legal troubles, Mansaray remains committed to his political goals. He has expressed concerns about the potential mismanagement of the recently secured Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact by the Sierra Leonean government.

In a social media post, Mansaray criticized the government for its alleged misuse of foreign aid. “Most of these grants and aids are siphoned by leaders in the government, leaving the majority of Sierra Leoneans to go through excruciating hardship and extreme poverty,” he claimed.

The MCC Compact, valued at $480 million, is intended to address Sierra Leone’s energy crisis.
