President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa extends his congratulations to President Julius Maada Bio of the Republic of Sierra Leone on his successful re-election for a second term.

President Ramaphosa expresses his anticipation for future engagements with President Bio, highlighting the importance of bilateral cooperation and collaboration on regional, continental, and global matters in line with Africa’s Agenda 2063.

Recognizing the official certification by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone, President Ramaphosa acknowledges President Bio as the rightful winner of the Presidential elections held on June 24, 2023.

β€œOn behalf of the government and people of South Africa, President Ramaphosa commends the people of Sierra Leone for conducting peaceful and successful elections,” the Presidency said in a statement.

President Ramaphosa assures President Bio of his commitment to continue enhancing and strengthen bilateral cooperation between South Africa and Sierra Leone from which deepened trade and investment, people to people relations will be rooted.

The President views the Sierra Leone elections as a consolidation of democracy in the country and continent in line with the Agenda 2063 goal of consolidating democratic gains and improving quality of governance, respect for human rights and the rule of law,” the statement read.
