As preparations for Kings Week intensify, the Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas, Speaker of the Sierra Leone Parliament, has pledged his support to Christ the King College (CKC) in Bo.
During a courtesy visit from the Christ the King College Old Boys Association (COBA) executive on October 22, 2024, Speaker Thomas committed NLE 50,000 and 100 bags of cement to aid the school’s fencing project.
The delegation, led by COBA President Mohamed Bangali, congratulated Speaker Thomas on his historic election and reminded him of the upcoming Kings Week celebrations from November 18 to 24, where he is scheduled to serve as the keynote speaker at the Prize-giving and Speech Day, followed by the COBA Dinner on November 24.
President Bangali informed the Speaker about the school’s ongoing development initiatives, particularly the fencing project aimed at securing thirty-two acres of land that has been threatened by encroachment.
He emphasized the importance of this project, noting that the first phase is projected to cost NLE 130 million. He called for collective action from stakeholders to protect the school’s property, explaining that beautification efforts could not proceed without securing the land.
Speaker Thomas expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed his commitment to participating in the Kings Week events.
He welcomed the invitation to speak and highlighted his pledge to support the school’s fencing project, underscoring the importance of safeguarding educational institutions.
With Kings Week approaching, the collaboration between Speaker Thomas and the COBA executive signals a strong commitment to enhancing the welfare and security of Christ the King College.
