Sr Teresa McKeon an Irish missionary and sister of the St Joseph of Cluny has been granted Sierra Leonean citizenship in recognition of her nearly seventy years in Sierra Leone.
Sr Teresa has ministered in Sierra Leone since 1954 serving as a teacher, school principal, and provincial leader of her congregation in West Africa.
Sr Teresa McKeon was honored by the former President of Sierra Leone for her “dedicated and meritorious service to the state in the field of education and the development of women”. She was presented with the award of ‘Officer of the Order of the Rokel’ by former President Koroma at a ceremony at State House in Freetown.
