The Assistant Commissioner of Police and Head of Media in Sierra Leone Police Force, Brima Kamara, has said that the issue of harmful drugs in the country is not as serious or widespread as it is often believed to be.

He made this known during an interview on an online TV program, where he spoke in detail about the steps being taken by the police to limit the spread and entry of illegal drugs.

According to him, the Sierra Leone Police have been working hard over time to stop the inflow of harmful drugs into the country. He explained that one of the major ways they are achieving this is by focusing their attention and efforts on the three main entry points into Sierra Leone, which are the airport, seaports, and land borders. These entry points, he said, are now under constant watch and security checks by trained officers to ensure that illegal drugs are blocked before they can make their way into the country.

He said these actions have been part of a broader strategy, with the police paying special attention to how harmful drugs enter the country and putting measures in place to stop them at the source. He also mentioned that the police are not only responding to cases, but are taking early steps to prevent drugs from getting past the borders in the first place.

He made these points while speaking on the ongoing efforts by the government of Sierra Leone in addressing drug-related matters.

He said the drug situation in Sierra Leone is not as rampant as some may believe, and the reason for this is because of the steps the police have taken, particularly at the main entry points into the country. By focusing on these areas and keeping them closely monitored, the police believe they have managed to stop the problem from becoming larger than it is now.
