The 2023 presidential candidate of the the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC), Dr. Samura Kamara has recently stated that members and supporters of the opposition APC have, over the years, suffered injustice at the hands of individuals allegedly affiliated with the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government, especially in Southeast Region,

The former APC flagbearer lamented that those perpetrators must be brought to book if the governmnent is serious about peace and national cohesion.

He furthered that the continued physical attack on opposition members could spell doom for any peace talks. One of the most striking incidents that Dr Kamara mentioned were the alleged burning down of APC party offices in several areas in the Southeast, including Segbwema in Kailahun, Pujehun and Bo Districts. “These acts of arson, he went on, do not only reprosent a blatant disregard for the principles of democracy but also a threat to the safety and wcll-being of those associated with the APC”.

The 2023 APC presidential candidate retirated that the fundamental principles of peace and stability can only thrive in a society where justice prevails, stressing that there will be no peace without justice.

Dr Samura Kamara furthered that the rule of law and the protection of democratic values are essential pillars of any functioning democracy.

In a nation striving for progress and unity, ho further stated, the pursuit of Justice becomes not just a matter of principle buta practical necessity to ensure the peaceful coexistenco of its citizens.

He furthered that the future of Sierra Leone’s political landscapo hinges on how loaders respond to the call for justice. According to political pundits, the call for Justice resonates with the democratic ideals of transparency and accountability, and by extension, the well-being of all citizens.

He said that one cannot preach peace when an article is not served.
