The United States Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield met with Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

In their meeting, Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield congratulated President Bio on Sierra Leone’s successful leadership of the UN Security Council in August.

She also expressed the United States’ commitment to strengthening the partnership between the two nations and reaffirmed the US’s support for reforming the Security Council, including adding two permanent seats for African countries.

The Ambassador and President Bio discussed the importance of African leadership on global issues, particularly in Sudan and the Sahel region. They emphasized the need for continued cooperation between the United States and Sierra Leone to address these challenges.
