TikToker Declared Wanted For Insulting President Bio
Guest Contributor The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has issued a wanted notice for Tiktoker, Lamrana Kanu for reportedly insulating President, Julius Maada Bio on social media.
According to SLP, Lamrana Kanu, who is residing at Lungi is wanted for committing a public order offences.
The Sierra Leone Public Order Act (POA) of 1965 gives the government leeway to criminalize any criticism, comment, or opinion that they dislike or deem to be overly critical.
The law also states that, “Using threatening, abusive, abusive, obscene or profane language, or saying or singing offensive or offensive songs or ballads, or causing nuisance to any person anywhere. The act of a person who makes such a ruckus is criminalized.
