Hon. Osman Abdul Timbo of the All People’s Congress (APC) has accused Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh of using post-election peace-building efforts to conceal what he described as alleged manipulation of the 2023 general elections by the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

According to Hon. Timbo, the Chief Minister, whom he alleged played a central role in the disputed elections, was later tasked by President Julius Maada Bio to engage the APC leadership under the banner of national unity.

Timbo claimed that following the elections, Dr. Sengeh held behind-the-scenes engagements, including a private meeting with former APC presidential candidate Dr. Samura Kamara and an alleged message delivered to the Chairman of the Peace Commission indicating President Bio’s interest in meeting the APC flagbearer.

The APC lawmaker strongly denied claims attributed to the Chief Minister that he coerced Dr. Samura Kamara into accepting aspects of the National Agreement for Unity, insisting that no pressure or force was applied.

“I have never imposed my will on Dr. Samura Kamara,” Timbo said, stressing that his credibility among young people within the APC remains intact and widely recognized.

He further accused Dr. Sengeh of attempting to sow discord within the APC by portraying him and fellow party member Dr. Dennis Marah as individuals who betrayed the party’s flagbearer.

Timbo maintained that the APC would not be misled by what he described as calculated efforts to divide the party and undermine its leadership.

He ended by calling for an immediate retraction of what he termed false and damaging allegations made against him by the Chief Minister, warning that he is considering further action should the claims remain uncorrected.
