The Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs on Friday, October 17, 2025, officially launched the One Nation Reggae Festival Logo at the ministry’s headquarters on Kingharman Road in Freetown.
The launch sets the tone for what promises to be one of Sierra Leone’s most vibrant and unifying events.
The festival will celebrate Sierra Leone’s shared roots, rhythm, and identity through music, aiming to unite people under one vibe and one energy. The theme for this year is “Shared Roots, Shared Rhythm — One Love, One Vibe.”
The festival will feature live performances from some of Sierra Leone’s top reggae superstars, bringing the stage to life with powerful messages, feel-good rhythms, and unforgettable energy.

I don’t know the use of the ministry of tourism and cultural affairs. I’m expecting the ministry not to just be dancing and celebrating cultures in freetown. Can the ministry decentralize it functions in subregions, promote herbals, tribes and their cultures? Hundreds of years ago, there are leaves and trees that were very useful for human health and other useful means, the knowledge behind those leaves and trees are now lost because of the abandonment of our cultures and traditions. Majority of tribes have faded or fading out as a result of the same cultural depreciation. The government and the ministry brother us western cultures that are now becoming means for our destruction, while our own leaves and trees that are blessed and have high medicinal content are also abandoned. A lot of bush animals, birds and fishes, trees and herbal sticks have locally lost their names and functions because of the western adopted cultures.
I suggest that, the ministry of tourism and cultural affairs comes up country, award projects to different tribal heads by chiefdoms so that a recall of the lost medicinal trees and leaves, their names and functions are written for further use.
