At least two people have lost their lives and several others remain trapped following the collapse of a four-story building at an SS camp on the outskirts of Freetown.

The tragedy occurred last night amid heavy rainfall.

According to BBC journalist Umaru Fofona, community volunteers have been working tirelessly throughout the night to rescue those buried under the rubble. Despite their heroic efforts, many people remain unaccounted for.

An excavator has been brought to the scene to aid in the rescue operation, but the task remains challenging. Inspector Lamish, a volunteer, confirmed that three people have been rescued so far, but at least seven others are believed to be trapped.

The disaster management agency, represented by Deputy Director John Rogers, is on the ground coordinating rescue efforts with the army, police, and Red Cross.

As the day progresses, the full extent of the disaster is becoming clearer, and hopes for survivors are diminishing.
