Popular Sierra Leonean Journalist and BBC Correspondence, Umaru Fofana has urged Sierra Leonean Women to add ‘funny’ to their criteria for men they like because he has observed that Sierra Leoneans senses of humour is dying.
He made this suggestion after he noticed how Sierra Leoneans reacted to the prank he made about Ramadan being postponed.
The Popular Journalist had posted a prank message on his Facebook timeline which reads: “There’s a move to postpone Ramadan by one week. A group of Fullah chiefs this afternoon made a representation to the Islamic Council citing concerns about the hot weather and having to stay without food and drink all day. They’ve threatened that if their request is not met they’ll be eating and drinking clandestinely during the day. Mandingo chiefs have rebuffed the idea. Quoting from the holy books, they say fasting is intended to test one’s resilience and faith in Allah. The meeting is adjourned to tomorrow at the Fullah mosque for a final determination. Looking despondent, one Fullah chief told me that it was unlikely they would have their way. 🏃🏿♂️”
Sierra Leoneans upon seeing this post took it seriously and overreacted, making a big deal of what was intend to create humor.
Because of this, Umaru Fofana took to his Facebook a mood of pity of how Sierra Leoneans are being too serious with being unserious, “this breeds anger quarrelsomeness and hate- consequently we die too earrly” he added.
With that, he ended with a suggestion that women should add ‘funny’ to their criteria to choose a man.
“Maybe our women should add ‘funny’ to the criteria for men they like. Boku Salone man den go fail. A sweh!!!” he stated.
