The United Nations in Sierra Leone on Thursday joined the nationwide call to observe National Remembrance Day on January 18, following a presidential proclamation.

As part of activities marking the observance, the Executive Secretary of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC), Sally Samai, symbolically pinned a white ribbon, representing peace, on the UN Resident Coordinator, Seraphine Wakana, and Heads of United Nations agencies.

The symbolic gesture took place prior to the commencement of the UN Country Team meeting held at the UN House on Fourah Bay Close, Main Motor Road, Wilberforce, underscoring the UN’s commitment to peace, unity, and national cohesion in Sierra Leone.
