The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Sierra Leone has officially handed over newly constructed and renovated Local Police Partnership Board (LPPB) office buildings to the communities of Soa, Gbense, and Kamara Chiefdoms in Kono District.

These facilities were delivered as part of a joint Human Security Project, funded by the UN Human Security Trust Fund and implemented in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Sierra Leone.

The project utilized a Human Security Approach to tackle the complex, interconnected challenges faced by vulnerable communities, aiming to strengthen peace, resilience, and human well-being across various sectors.

During the handover ceremony, UNDP Resident Representative Fredrick Ampiah emphasized the critical role of peace in achieving sustainable development.

“There can be no sustainable development without peace,” Ampiah stated. “Peace is not just the absence of violence; it is the foundation upon which communities thrive, economies grow, and people realize their full potential.”

Ampiah further highlighted that the LPPB offices represent more than just physical structures. “They are symbols of our shared commitment to dialogue, trust, and local ownership—the very building blocks of lasting peace and inclusive development,” he affirmed.

The initiative reflects UNDP’s commitment to advancing inclusive governance, strengthening local institutions, and building resilient communities, ensuring no one is left behind.
