90 young university graduates from Tonkolili, Moyamba, and Western Rural districts have successfully completed a two-day training designed to boost their employability, under the European Union–funded Youth Action for Good Governance and Self-Reliance (YAGGS) project.

The training, implemented by ActionAid Sierra Leone in collaboration with the Centre for Coordination of Youth Activities (CCYA), focused on equipping participants with practical job readiness skills, including: Career guidance, CV development and application letter writing, Job search techniques, Interview skills.

Speaking at the seminar, Hezina Johnson, YAGGS Project Manager, said the initiative is aimed at preparing graduates to compete in the labor market.

“We are committed to imparting knowledge to these young minds for a competitive job market. After attaining tertiary education, we believe one must be able to make themselves marketable,” she stated.

Participants described the experience as transformative. Abass Kabba Jalloh, a graduate from Tonkolili, remarked, “This training widened my thoughts on CV development and gave me the confidence to apply for any job.”

Another participant, Mariatu Lacckor, expressed appreciation: “I have learned a lot, especially on CV development and interviews. I thank ActionAid for their immense gesture and promise to cascade the message to other young people.”

It is also expected these young graduates will use the knowledge they gained from this  training, to explore job opportunities and secure gainful employment.
