In a press release today, the University of Sierra Leone (USL) announced the commencement date for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The university has called on all academic and administrative staff to take note that the new academic year will begin in the first week of October 2024.

The release further urged all Deans of Faculties, Directors of Institutes, Heads of Departments, and Lecturers to ensure that all examination scripts are marked, grades moderated, and submitted to the Exams Office or uploaded to the Portal by Saturday, 21 September 2024. This directive aligns with the University Examinations Policy, which mandates a maximum four-week timeline for the submission of grades, and will help the institution return to a normal academic calendar.

The University emphasized that the timely publication of results is critical to ensure students return to the new academic year at their appropriate levels.

Additionally, the University announced that the Congregation Ceremony for the graduating class will be held in December, in line with the institution’s tradition. The Administration stressed the importance of submitting all final results, including grades for dissertations and re-sit exams, to the Secretariat by the first week of November 2024 to facilitate preparations for the ceremony.

In closing, the University expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the successful completion of the 2023/2024 academic year and encouraged everyone to continue building on the progress made.
