United States Embassy Senior Adviser on Democracy and Good Governance, Alpha Sesay has been appointed as the new deputy Minister of Justice.

The renowned lawyer is expected to resign his position at the US Embassy in Sierra Leone to be part of President Julius Maada Bio’s Cabinet.

Sesay has a very impressive global CV having worked in Global and Transitional Justice programs with a special interest in human rights issues.

He is reportedly an highly accomplished human rights lawyer with successive years of experience undertaking litigation and advocacy on issues related to human rights, accountability for international mechanisms on issues related to human rights, accountability for international crimes, access to Justice and legal empowerment, accountability governance and rule of law promotion, Civil society and institutional strengthening.

Sesay also has experience as an authoritative commentator on human Rights, rule of law, and global justice issues for different media outlet, including BBC, SKy News, Aljazeera, and France 24.

He is recognized for his  strong work ethics and proven track record in designing, managing, and implementing organizational projects and strategies, with demonstrated ability to lead and nurture teams.
