The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has today Saturday 15th July 2023 handed over the results of the National Primary School Examination 2023 (NPSE) to the government of Sierra Leone.

Dr. David Sengeh, the former Minister of Basic Education, made this announcement.

The examination took place in May 2023 and serves as a mandatory prerequisite for primary school graduates seeking admission into secondary education.

Dr. David Sengeh, in his statement, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the pupils who participated in the NPSE.

With his announcement, it is expected that the examination results will be released ‘very soon.’

On May 6, 2023, a total of 163,894 candidates from 4,790 schools took the exams at 567 centers across the country.

The NPSE is a significant examination that serves as a transition from primary school to the Junior Secondary School (JSS) sector within the education system of Sierra Leone. The education structure in Sierra Leone comprises Pre-Primary school (Nursery), Primary, Junior Secondary (JSS), and Senior Secondary (SSS) levels.

Once the results are released, there will be a delay at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education before they reach the respective schools. However, candidates can check their results online or by using the MBSSE SMS result checker.
