Sierra Leone’s BBC reporter, Umaru Fofona has expressed disappointment at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School Education (MBSSE) over the mathematics grades of the just-released West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
He said he is surprised the ministry has failed to raise concern or outrage over the WASSCE mathematics grades as some candidates are claiming publicly that don’t deserve the grades they got.
He claimed that some art students who bearly write the maths exam got 1, 2, and 3 and they are laughing about it on social media.
“What happened with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and maths this time”?
He said such grades also raises doubts over the consistent mass failure in English Language over the years.
He suggested WAEC is audited thoroughly and stake holders must meet to discuss the conduct of public exams.
Is like they just guess the grades for the mats and gave fail grades for English
The worsted WASSCE ever.
Absolutely, the stakeholders have to discuss serious matters concerning the conduct of public exam in Sierra Leone. If not our education in this country will not be considered any more, as compared to other west Africa countries. So please, I am appealing to the government of Sierra Leone to look in to this vividly. Boo an arts student got A1 in mathematics and F9 in English language.
They are not credible of their work ,so disappointing ,Art student pass Maths with A1 failed literature and English ,what are disgrace body waec

Waec and the MBSSE are really wicked.
They guess to give mathematics grades and willfully give fail grades in English language.
Now we reliase that the best ever minister is out.

Some people are not decent in social media,u talking saying dis WASCE is the worsted u both were happy wasce is all about luck and blessings it doesn’t work if u have sense or u are d genius . What u work for is what u get

The same students who are vividly misusing the social media that they don’t deserve the results because of the series of A’s in mathematics if they decided again to restrict on the marking the will be there politicizing the issues. So I’m just tired of the words of sierra Leoneans honestly. So please let’s wait and see the outcome of 2024 wassce results..
I am also disappointed in MBSSE over the massive failure grades for the english language and also the witheld result, that is really a wickedness the stakeholders of this country needs to meet with the MBSSE to talk in behalf of the students whose’s results were be witheld.
Hmmm, appreciate what they gave you rather than critisising WAEC nor MBSSE, besides,most candidates or schools can’t be abling to cover all subjects syllabus in Sierra Leone.
You can pursue to College which is accredited by Ministry of Higher education after gaining experience there then further your career of profession to USL .
Wace as an institution need to be investigated otherwise our educational system will continues to fall
Make waec release the withold results to the public, as they has no tangible reasons behind that
My daughter worked very hard for the exam at the of it all her results was withheld am disappointed about the whole thing
That was so heartbreaking those innocent students that work so hard for their results to be withheld in that manner
Let them release our withheld results pls Mr fofanah, we are seriously crying for our results pls those withheld results
WASSCE is now a business and politicians are taking advantage for their own interests. I no longer trust this institution
