The Wages and Compensation Commission (WCC) has launched a two-day engagement with public sector institutions across Sierra Leone aimed at advancing the harmonization of government salaries.

The initiative marks a significant step toward establishing a more equitable and transparent compensation system for public sector employees.

The engagement focuses on introducing and explaining a standardized data collection template developed by the Commission. The tool is designed to gather comprehensive information on employee compensation and benefits from various institutions, streamlining data collection and providing a foundation for informed decisions on wage determination and harmonization.

Speaking at the opening session, WCC Chairperson, Hon. Alhaji Osman Timbo, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to fairness and transparency in public sector remuneration. “Proactive measures will be taken to improve salaries and benefits for government workers, ensuring pay structures reflect equity and national priorities,” he said.

Hon. Timbo also stressed the importance of accurate data, noting, “Without reliable information from all public sector institutions, we cannot build a fair and consistent pay system. This process is essential to promoting justice and efficiency in rewarding public service.”

The two-day engagement provides a platform for dialogue on key issues surrounding wage determination, allowing institutions to contribute to shaping a balanced and transparent pay framework for Sierra Leone’s public sector.
