32 Year old Salima Monorma Bah has become the youngest appointed minister in the Government of Sierra Leone by President Julius Maada Bio.
She may be heading the Ministry of Communications, Technology and Innovation in the second five year mandate of President Bio. She also doubles to be the first ever minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation in the country being a new sector in the governance system of Sierra Leone.
Bah, in reaction to her appointment, expressed deep humility and honour in accepting the opportunity from the President in serving the people of Sierra Leone. She recognised President Bio’s faith in her ability to contribute to the development of Sierra Leone through her leadership in the field of communication, technology, and innovation.
The new minister at fostering an environment conducive to technological advancements and digital inclusion, creating opportunities for progress and growth across various sectors.

Congratulations on your appointment Salima!
This move by president Bio resonates with what we see of Paul Kagami’s government. In addition to having several young women in Kagami’s cabinet, he has appointed the youngest cabinet member Jean de Dieu ‘Jado’ Uwihanganye (https://www.manchester.ac.uk/discover/news/scholarship-student-rwandas-youngest-ever-government-minister/). Though male, young females have held and perhaps still hold cabinet positions in Rwanda.
Briefly, young talented people have something to offer and they should be given a chance. Finally, please….., we need to try new ideas in Salone.
I do not know the new minister. However, let me say this: Appointing a young female in our country’s cabinet may be relatively new. However, if you do not have a concrete reason DO NOT make derogatory comments against this appointment, because that will discourage the good things we want to see leaders do in this country. We want to see more young men and women appointed to such roles.
Please let us wait until we observe her performance on the job before we comment appropriately. Word is gold!
