The Youth Minister, Mohamed Orman Bangura has suspended Youth Envoy, Yulisa Ahmadu for six months due to misconduct and institutional misrepresentation.

Ahmadu is accused of receiving a bribe using his office which the Youth Ministry considers as a “major misconduct”. The Youth Minister, Bangura accused Ahmadu of collecting money from youths with the false pretext of facilitating their travel overseas.

“You (Ahmadu) accepted in my presence that you collected cash from youths to facilitate their travels overseas which did not happen,” Minister Bangura said.

Bangura further informed the Youth Envoy to hand over all official materials including his diplomatic passports to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth.

Ahmadu was appointed by President Julius Maada Bio as Youth Envoy on May 25, 2023. At the time of his appointment, the government believed that the young entrepreneur had the relevant skills to advocate for Sierra Leonean youths in Sierra Leone and the diaspora.

Meanwhile, Ahmadu has not yet made any comments regarding his suspension, even though he remains active on social media platforms.
