Sierra Leonean songwriter, singer and rapper, Yung Sal has signed a lucrative contract with one of Sierra Leone biggest record labels, Hejenah Entertainment.

The Mr ‘Kam Join We’ signed for the record label today Friday 10th December, 2021 in an open event at the office of Hejenah Entertainment in Freetown.

During the signing, the CEO of Hejenah Entertainment, Kuanmalo Tejan Kella gave a brief history of the label. He stated that, they started the label along with his partner Joseph Koroma popularly known as Nashito Kulala in 2014 without any vision and money. It all started because of the dreams and passion they have for the entertainment. As a personal manager for iconic singer, Rahim D Wezard and having Nashito who is a producer as friend, they thought of establishing a record label.

The CEO stated the names of artistes the label has worked with since its establishment in 2013. Among them are: Sugar Lulu, Cece, 441, Abizzy and others. He added that, the label has its own office space with state of the art, studio equipment, recording studio, red camera, etc.

Kwamalo welcomed Yung Sal to the label. He said this is not the first time they are working with the singer. They have worked with him since the days of ‘Kam Join We’ which was produced by Nashito Kulala. “As the working relationship has been going, it now time to bring the singer on board to work as business…” – he stated.

On his statement, Yung Sal said that for the past 5 years, it has been a dream for him to take Sierra Leone music to the world. he said that he started as a promoter and later switched to manager and finally ended up becoming a musician. Despite doing his music, he also went to school and graduated from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. “My dream has always been to create a legacy. Not just to come today and go. I want to do music so that people will say Yung Sal and Hejenah Entertainment contributed a lot for Sierra Leone music to be at this level.” He stated. Yung Sal continues saying that, he started working with Nashito Kulala in 2015 and now he is excited when it became official to work together.

The label was founded in 2014 by Quanmalo Tejan-Kella and Joseph Sedu Koroma. Hejenah Entertainment is the first record label to construct an office space with full and standard studio equipment. The label housed Rahim De Wezard and Triple-T and now Yung Sal as the musucians, Ohemaa Salone as the personal manager for Rahim De Wezard, DJ Flex as official DJ, Bazz Money as promoter and Nashito Kulala who is the co-founder of the label as producer.

The signing of the Yung Sal was attended by promoters, musicians, DJs, TV presenters and others. Positive comments were made and questions were asked from the audience which were answered by Nashito Kulala.
