Mayor of Freetown, Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr has today, Wednesday 05 October 2022 visited one of the Freetown the Tree Town growing areas at Choitrams Hospital, Hill Station, Freetown.
In a live Faceboook video, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr discussed about the Freetown City Council (FCC) tree planting campaign, the progress and impact of the project on the lives of the growers and other people involved.
The Mayor later posted on Facebook, stating that, “Today I paid a field visit to one of the #FreetownTheTreeTown growing areas in Catchment 1A. This is in the grounds of Choitrams Hospital where the FEDURP Growing Team have planted 4058 trees, all of which are individually photographed and uploaded into the customized tree tracking app. It was great to see the growth of the trees since my last field visit in March and to chat to Andrew and other growers who now make a living from planting, maintaining and monitoring the growth of the trees!
To see for yourself the trees we’ve planted across the 13 catchment areas, please visit freetown.treetracker.org.
Together we can #TransformFreetown!”
