In the aftermath of the 2018 elections in Sierra Leone, one voice was ravaging the ears of many Sierra Leoneans, especially those in some parts of the North and West of the country. This voice identifies itself as Adabayo.
His messages were tailored to criticizing government policies and were proving to be critical of the government. He is seen and believed to be siding with the opposition APC party. To many local APC supporters, he is their mouthpiece because of him being critical of the government, which the APC as a party can not do.
Soon, there was a change in trajectories as his messages were filled with invective targeting the president, his government, and even members of his political party, the APC. As a result of his critical calls, some supporters of the APC in the North and West of the country have followed his directives to cause disorder and protests in some parts of the country.
Sources reveal that Sierra Leone has engaged in talks with the Dutch government regarding Adabayo’s extradition to face charges of inciting disorder through social media. Adabayo’s messages, deemed insightful by authorities, have allegedly sparked protests, resulting in civilian and police casualties. To the Dutch government, Adabayo is just an activist providing advocacy and has since not agreed to that request.
Recent reports from Reuters that Jos Leijdekkers who is wanted by the EU was reportedly spotted in Sierra Leone, in a village called Tihun, the hometown of President Bio attending a church mass and was seated a few seats away from the president and near a woman believed to be the daughter of the president, and another video showing a man believed to be Jos Leijdekkers in a rice farm where the president was also pictured, hint at a strategic move by Sierra Leone. The presence of a convicted Dutch drug lord in the country is believed to be leveraged as a bargaining chip to secure Adabayo’s return for trial.
In a press release issued by the government through the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, “The Sierra Leone Police is ready to collaborate with the Dutch Government, Interpol, and the international law enforcement agencies to ensure cooperation and accountability.” Many believe that the willingness or readiness of the Sierra Leone Government to talk may be rooted in their earlier requests for Adabayo from the Dutch government.
This will be a litmus test to intricate the web of international relations and the complexities involved when addressing cross-border legal matters, as both governments go through the delicate balance between justice and diplomacy. Will the Dutch government finally succumb to the request to hand over Adabayo? Will the Sierra Leone Government accept and disclose the identity of Jos Leijdekkers? Or will this willingness to talk be tied around bargaining for exchange- Give us Adabayo, and in turn, we give you Jos Leijdekkers?
This will not happen adebayor have not violated any international law and is not and has not been convicted for any crime whilst Jos is a wanted man any attempt of the government to shield him will lead to sanctions from the entire uk note the neatherdals is not an independent entity
Is Adebayo a drug lord or fugitive?
We don’t care to what assumptions they might want to reach, we needed Adebayoh here to answer to so many Terrorism acts and treat he has used against sierra Leoneans.
He need to face our court for trial.
So this is the time the Dutch authorities will understand the animalistic situation we’ve been facing while he uses their country as shield
But adebayor is not a convict and has never been tried in any court of law under the jurisdiction of Sierra Leone whether in present or in absentia so how can that be possible.
I see that the government is not taking the issues of cocaine as a serious matter, how can the government compare the issues of cocaine and Adebayore for exchang.Any way salone na country
