Destroying EDSA cables & transformers in the country does not make sense. Only selfish politicians can misuse our youth to the extent of sending them to destroy amenities meant to benefit them.
I feel saddened by the fact that some of our youth have embraced the destruction of the state’s properties and, at the same time, want Sierra Leone to develop. “Killing a person and still wanting him to live,”….my ageing mother would say.
Some ill-motivated politicians have shattered our culture and traditions and the things that used to keep us together as a youth.
They have put knives between us through psychological intimidation of the hearts and minds. And now we’ve graduated to the level of destructing ourselves and the country we vowed to love dearly.
Let us put our country first. Development of any type cannot impede anyone from contributing or embracing. Sierra Leone is the only country we can be proud of. So why want mama Salone to crumble even when it’s fighting to rise from the ruins? Remember this saying “ There is no place like home.”
President Bio wants to leave a legacy that will be difficult for any other president to match. And it is only through the establishment of solid institutions and infrastructures that the country will develop.
The human capital development program is for all of us as Sierra Leoneans. It is a process called “Radical Inclusion.” Electricity, agriculture, road constructions, the fight against youth unemployment, etc., are for all.
The list will go on and on. It is time to hold politicians and their political parties accountable in line with their political manifesto.
To the Youth of Sierra Leone, if we are not careful and mindful of our actions, we will be undermining our moral stature, and thereof our social standing and political clout will be compromised.
We must never let this happen to us. Our contributions to nation-building must always be cheerful. It’s only through positivity that our role and voice in society will be high.
Let us all be watchdogs and protect our properties because it is our responsibility as Sierra Leoneans. We cannot run away from it. With positive contributions, we’re always assured of having a seat at the table.
