The Flagship Project of the SLPP New Direction government is to cater for venerable deprived school going pupil’s across the country. The 2021/2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), conducted by the West African Examination Council, Sierra Leone (WAEC-SL), seriously exposed the appalling nature of WASSCE RESULTS; 95% examination malpractices. Education in Sierra Leone has drastically dropped over the years. We have no value in certificates issued all because pupil’s could no longer defend what they have acquired on paper from numerous institutions. The so-called Free Quality School Education (FQSE) can only reflective itself, if stakeholders are corrupt free from examination malpractices. Sierra Leone once called the ‘Athens of West Africa’ but today, all has been misplaced because of illegal attitude in the education sector.
Meanwhile, 200 students applied at Njala University for Nursing. Only 41 students are now confirmed to study Nursing. All the remaining 159 students failed the entrance exams woefully. College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, under the University of Sierra Leone (USL), shortlisted 1,500 students. Only 70 pass the entrance exams as successful candidates for the Diploma in Pharmacy 2022/2023 academic year.
However, Fourah Bay College, university of Sierra Leone has resolved to conduct entrance Examination for all undergraduate programs at FBC. The exams will be multiple choice questions (MCQs). There will be 2 sections (A&B). One section is on English and the other is on Facility specific subjects according to USL media rep.
Well meaning Sierra Leoneans both home and aboard are calling on the Sierra Leone 🇸🇱 Parliament to summon the Minister of Basic and Senior School Education (MBSSE) and Head of WACE-SL for questioning. You may recalled that, over 19 thousand WASSCE RESULTS were withheld for further investigations. Though, 75% Principals of Schools are presently experiencing massive pressure from their pupil’s across the country.
