The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has formally invited Dr Samura Kamara, the former flag bearer candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters for questioning.

On February 4, the SLP Cyber Unit released a statement indicating that they have a series of videos featuring Dr. Samura Kamara. In these videos, he is referred to as the President-elect of Sierra Leone, and he makes statements that appear to support this title.

The invitation extended to Dr Samura Kamara by the police seems to be a strategic move by the SLPP cocaine boys in light of the cocaine controversy.

This approach appears aimed at diverting public attention away from the international embarrassment caused by the scandal surrounding the nation.

Such efforts to shift public attention from the cocaine issues were anticipated, particularly in light of the recent seizure of substantial quantities of cocaine involving the Sierra Leone Ambassador to Guinea.

The SLPP government alias “COCAINE BOYs” ought to acknowledge that there is currently nothing that can effectively divert public scrutiny from the cocaine incident. The tactic of summoning Dr. Samura Kamara to the CID is not a novel approach.

It is important to highlight that since the SLPP government assumed power following the disputed 2023 elections, several senior APC members have previously been summoned for questioning at the CID.

Many of these individuals were subsequently detained and released after a brief period, while some faced charges related to corruption, treason, incitement, or other offences.

This approach mirrors the situation in which Dr Samura Kamara was charged with corruption before the 2023 election, which was perceived as a tactic to hinder his presidential candidacy.

It is worth noting that there exists substantial evidence suggesting that the results of the 2023 election were flawed, as corroborated by both local and international observers.

The reality is that no clear winner emerged, and a second round of voting should have been conducted.

Regrettably, Mohamed Konneh the Electoral Commissioner For Sierra Leone (ECSL) announced Julius Maada Bio as the president without such proceedings.

In conclusion, the cocaine saga is far from over. Even if the entire APC executive is summoned, questioned, and detained by the CID, this cocaine drama marks the beginning of the downfall of the Bio presidency.
